SAT I Preparation - Grades 8 through 11
In this intensive, one-on-one program, each student will take BLC’s placement exam to determine his or her level, create an individualized test score goal, and work with separate, specialized tutors for the Math and English subject areas. Through weekly meetings with the tutor, each student will develop a thorough grasp of the skills needed to achieve a competitive score on each section of the SAT I. Once the student has mastered foundational grammar, critical reading and Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry skills, he or she will solve a battery of real, high-difficulty SAT I test problems in preparation for the final exam.
Johns Hopkins 대학에서 실시하는 여름 방학 CTY 참가를 원하는 7-8학년 학생들과 명문대학을 지원하는 10-12 학년 학생들은 고득점 SAT 개인지도가 좋습니다. 본 학원 평가고사를 기본으로 개인 목표 점수를 정하고 전략을 세워서 일주일에 1-2 번 개인 지도를 합니다.

TOEFL Preparation - Grades 6 through 11
BLC’s Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) preparation course helps strengthen the student’s language skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Each student will receive a thorough grounding in writing strategy, English grammar and standard usage, and critical reading techniques. Also, because the TOEFL test is now administered exclusively in an internet-based form with listening and speaking components, verbal skills and auditory comprehension skills are more critical than ever. Unlike other learning centers, BLC’s teachers are all native English speakers; working in a friendly, one-on-one environment with a native speaker helps each student develop the confidence necessary to succeed on these portions of the exam.
인터넷 베이스 토플 시험은 reading, speaking, listening and writing 의 4 영역으로 구성되어 있으며 각 영역이 30점 만점으로 총 120점이 됩니다. Ivy 대학은 600 점 이상, UW은 580점이상을 요구합니다. 본학원 리딩 레벨 테스트 6.0 이상이면, 580 이상이 되며 미국 유학이 3년된 학생의 경우 학교 성적이 우수하면 토플은 자동으로 높은 점수가 나옵니다. 토플은 모국어가 영어가 아닌 외국 학생들을 위한 시험이기 때문에 SAT와 비교해서 쉽습니다. 본학원은 전원 외국인 교사가 토플을 지도합니다.

ISEE and SSAT Preparation - Grades 5 through 11

Highly gifted students who wish to enter prestigious private schools must take entrance examinations the December prior to the academic year for which they apply. Students hoping to attend schools on the east coast will take the SSAT, and those hoping to attend schools on the west coast will take ISEE. Both exams are very much like the SAT I, though the difficulty is scaled for the student’s grade level.
Students will prepare for one of three tests: the 5th to 6th grade, 7th to 8th grade, or high school level test. Each student will work in a one-on-one environment with separate math and English teachers who will give him or her the grounding in writing, reading and math necessary for confident, competitive performance on the entrance exam.
사립 초중교를 진학하려는 학생은 동부의 경우 SSAT, 서부의 경우 ISEE 테스트를 봐야 합니다. 이 테스트를 치루는 학생들 대부분이 사립학교 출신이거나 공부를 잘하는 학생들이기 때문에 높은 수준의 점수를 받기 어렵습니다. 그러나 수학은 99 %을 받는 경우가 많고 영어는 80-90 %면 좋은 편이라 할 수 있습니다. 평소 책을 잘 읽지 않고, 리딩 레벨이 낮다면 체계적인 계획을 세워 준비해야 합니다. 6학년 학생의 경우 리딩 레벨과 수학 수준이 8 이상이여야 좋은 점수가 나옵니다.

Advanced Placement Test Preparation - Grades 9 through 11
Advanced Placement (AP) tests, held at the beginning of each May, are examinations that determine whether a student will be awarded college credit for his or her high school achievement in Advanced Placement courses. Our specialized teachers, many of whom hold or are pursuing graduate degrees in their areas of study, help students achieve the depth of understanding and level of academic quality necessary to pass these rigorous examinations. BLC offers specialized tutoring in Advanced Placement Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Psychology, Calculus, World History, United States History, English Language and English Literature. 고등학교 10학년부터 AP 과목을 선택하며 이는 대학 수준 과목으로 숙제 및 공부량이 매일 2 시간 가량 됩니다. 대학 진도이기에 자세히 설명하거나 반복하여 이해 시키는 과정이 없고 혼자 읽고 이해해야 하는 부분이 많습니다. 천천히 반복되는 쉬운 교과 과정이 익숙해진 학생들에게는 전혀 다른 수준의 수업이 됩니다. 학생들의 경향에 따라서 영어와 역사는 쉬운데 수학과 물리가 어려울 수 있고, 간혹 학교 교사의 수준이 떨어지면 개인 지도가 필요합니다. 본학원은 각 과목을 전공하고 학교 AP 커리큐럼을 잘 아시는 선생님들이 개인지도해 드립니다. 참고로 AP 시험은 5월 초에 실시되며 5점 스케일에서 3 점이상이면 패스입니다.

ACT Preparation
The ACT, often used alongside the SAT I as an indicator of a student’s college suitability, is recommended for students taking several Advanced Placement courses. This test focuses on more in-depth questions than the SAT I, and offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in various subject areas. Intensive, individualized, one-on-one tutoring for the ACT will be provided based on the student’s ability level and score goals.
학교에서 AP수학, 영어, 과학을 이수한 학생들에게 유리한 ACT는 영어, 수학외에 과학이 추가되며 깊이있는 내용이 시험에 나옵니다. 총 만점은 36점이며 32점은 SAT I 의 1420 점 정도로 호환됩니다. ACT 전문 교사가 지도합니다.
